Demelza offers much needed care to young people with life-limiting illnesses which is offered by specialist paediatric nurses and care assistants. Paying for this care, and the love and support that they give, is Demelza's main expense.
Berkeley Homes East Thames began work with Demelza in 2012. Through events in 2013 like a 5 a side football tournament and a fun run around the shell of a Crossrail station, they were able to donate £20,000. This allowed Demelza to pay for the cost of a care assistant for a whole year. In 2014, a staggering £40,000 was raised for Demelza by a football tournament.
During 2013, we began to subsidise the costs of a newly recruited Trading Area Manager for Demelza through the Berkeley Foundation's Job Creation Programme. This subsidy was delivered and after a year of employment, the Trading Area Manager was offered a permanent position. At the Demelza House Business Awards in 2013, Berkeley was recognised with an award as their "Outstanding Corporate Sponsor".
