Set on the banks of the river Thames in Buckinghamshire, they offer activities to young people of all backgrounds and abilities.
85,000 young people visit Longridge each year. In 2013 and 2014, the Berkeley Foundation funded over 50 places for young people to spend two days at the centre, taking part in kayaking, go-karting, climbing and a range of other activities. We sponsored a following 40 in 2015.
For many of these young people, the trip was a much needed break from their home environments. Many were young carers, or the siblings of very ill or disabled children. Others had been deemed at risk of anti-social behaviour. The trips gave them the chance to mix with other young people and build their confidence.
