St Matthews Triple

St Matthew’s Project (SMP) is a community-based charity offering support to young people in the Brixton and Tulse Hill areas of Lambeth on and off the football pitch. Trained football coaches help young people fulfil their potential and improve their wellbeing both physically and emotionally through targeted support. St Matthew’s works with young people who are predominantly from minoritised communities and whose lives are heavily impacted by crime and violence.

Between 2018-2020, the Berkeley Foundation funded the ‘Fit 4 Life’ programme, which brought in an external counsellor to support the charity’s young people with 1:1 and group counselling sessions.

A new collaboration between St Matthew’s and Partisan, an expert mental health charity, was launched in 2022. Our funding is supporting the costs of Partisan’s clinical psychologists to continue offering specialist mental health support to young people and train St Matthew’s staff in trauma-informed practice.
