City Gateway provides young people, women and families with the skills, experience and qualifications they need to achieve their ambitions and progress into employment.
With over half of all children in Tower Hamlets, where City Gateway is based, waking up in poverty, 63% of BME women unemployed and 10% of residents unable to speak English well or at all, many families don't know where to turn and job opportunities can be hard to access.
That's where City Gateway steps in, with a proven end to end programme taking people from no or low qualifications through to apprenticeships and employment. Thanks to funding from the Berkeley Foundation, the coaching element of the programme will now be rolled out across their women only programme. A dedicated coach will support 200 young women to overcome personal barriers, improve their wellbeing and build their confidence to engage with training. Funding will also help grow their crèche provision meaning more young women can engage with courses while their children are cared for in a safe and supportive environment.
