The Baytree Centre is a well-established community hub in Lambeth, supporting women and girls through skills development programmes.
Berkeley Foundation is supporting The Baytree Centre to deliver its first employment programme - 'Women into Work'. Working in partnership with High Trees Community Development Trust and Spiral Skills, The Baytree Centre aims to support 70 young women living in Lambeth who are not in education, training or employment. Many of the women participating in the project will be migrants, experiencing mental health problems, or have suffered trauma.
The Baytree Centre will carry out work-readiness assessments, followed by one-to-one mentoring and workshops to address personal barriers to employment. Those women needing additional support will receive employability skills training and mock interview sessions delivered by Spiral Skills. For those closer to the labour market, one-to-one employment advice and job brokerage will be provided by High Trees. By joining up three local services, this project aims to move vulnerable young women from underrepresented groups, towards employment.
