Helen & Douglas House Children & Young Adults Hospice provides specialist care along with emotional and practical support.
Helen & Douglas House cares for terminally ill children and young adults. The care they provide helps them live as well and as fully as possible till the end of their lives. They help families create happy memories together.
In Douglas House, a hospice for young adults, a 160 families have been supported this year. Support has been provided to families within their own home by the outreach team, whilst the support and bereavement team have provided a vital ongoing counselling service to both Helen & Douglas House families for as long as they need the support.
Berkeley Homes Oxford and Chiltern have had a successful partnership with the charity for over 18 years. The funding from last year has supported the importance of play within Helen House, where terminally ill children and their siblings are encouraged to play during their respite stay.
In August 2016, the Berkeley Foundation hosted an activity weekend at Longridge Activity Centre, on the Thames near Marlow. 10 siblings from Helen & Douglas house attended and had a fabulous time climbing, kayaking, swimming and camping together and another 10 will visit again in 2017.
