The winners of the Foundation Awards 2022 were revealed at an awards breakfast event today (31 March), with £21,000 donated to partner charities as part of the celebrations.
110 guests had gathered at the Bishopsgate Institute in London to celebrate the achievements of individuals, Berkeley businesses, supply chain companies and charity partners – all supporting the Foundation’s work and making a difference to our local communities.
The shortlisted nominees were chosen for their exemplary contributions to charity partnerships, including fundraising huge sums, which are then matched pound for pound by the Berkeley Foundation. Everyone who was shortlisted was asked to nominate a Foundation charity partner of their choice for a £1,000 donation.
The partner charities receiving the prize money are Crisis, Demelza, ellenor, Evelina, London Children’s Hospital, Home-Start London, Honeypot Children’s Hospice , Mencap, Key4Life, Momentum, MyBnk, Rethink Mental Illness, SPEAR, The Change Foundation, The Grange Centre, The Rainbow Trust and Triangle Adventure Playground – the latter claiming £4,000 in prize money thanks to multiple wins for its partner Berkeley St Edward.
Rob Perrins, Managing Director of the Berkeley Group and Chairman of the Berkeley Foundation, gave the introductory speech, highlighting how our strong relationships with charity partners and the Berkeley Group has helped us have a deeper impact in our first decade.
Rob also introduced the first ever showing of the new Foundation film, which features charity partners and Berkeley colleagues who have been involved in the Foundation’s journey so far.
Rob handed over to Guy Rigden, CEO of MyBnk, one of the Foundation’s long term partners. Guy spoke about how the partnership has helped The Money House expand into new areas and helping prevent more young people becoming homeless, and what the partnership will look like over the next years.
Sally Dickinson, Head of the Berkeley Foundation, then took to the stage to announce the winners of the nine categories. Fanfare, please!
