Berkeley Group’s St Joseph team, based in Birmingham, has been busy building their network of charity partnerships in the local community.
Working in partnership with St Basils, their Community Partner charity since 2019, St Joseph and the Foundation have raised over £300,000 towards their vital work supporting young people aged 16-25 in the West Midlands to find and keep a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, and increase access to opportunities.
Inspiring colleagues have taken part in events like the annual Big Sleep Out, putting their resilience to the test to raise awareness and funds. They’re currently training for the St Basils hike in June – we wish them the best of luck!
In addition, colleagues have volunteered 53 hours, giving their time and expertise to help St Basils refurbish its accommodation for young people. The partnership is a real success story, and the teams are now considering plans for the future of their partnership. Watch this space!
St Joseph is also working with the wider community of Berkeley Foundation charity partners, including some of our Strategic Partners.
MyBnk has drawn on St Joseph’s financial expertise to help deliver sessions that educate young people in managing their money. Sporty colleagues have also stepped in to umpire at Lord’s Taverners’ regional final table cricket competition, having a blast whilst doing so. We’ve worked closely with both St Joseph and Lord’s Taverners to bring employability skills into the Super 1s disability cricket programme and it was great to see young people from the programme at an Employability Day in April, hosted by St Joseph.
Finally, the team has supported Crisis with the development of the Homelessness Alliance project, as well as with its new employability strategy.
But it doesn’t stop with our partners! Through the upcoming Ladywood redevelopment in Birmingham, the St Joseph team is working with a number of local charities and schools, making connections and helping to build a stronger community.
