Berkeley Foundation and Berkeley Group: Philanthropy Award
The Philanthropy Award recognises organisations and individuals that have made significant commitments to a project, charity or enterprise.
In 2023/24 Berkeley Foundation continued to make an impact in local communities across London, Birmingham and the south of England. We renewed several agreements with key Strategic Partners and invested £3.6m to support just under 12,000 people.
61% of Berkeley Group staff got involved in our work last year. Their participation is supported through a network of Foundation Champions, as well as through annual volunteering days for every employee, a successful payroll giving scheme, and a match funding scheme.
Berkeley staff raised a fantastic £941,000 for the Foundation and our charity partners in 2023/24. They also volunteered a record-breaking 1,992 hours, generating c. £85,000 of additional unrestricted funding.

The win recognises our longstanding collaboration to empower young people to take control of their finances, secure stable housing, and ultimately prevent youth homelessness.
It highlights the vital work we are doing together to support young people in building brighter, more secure futures.
Congratulations also to the team at Berkeley Capital who were shortlisted in two categories for their long-term charity partnerships with Demelza and St Giles.
Berkeley Capital and Demelza: Partnership with a children’s charity
The partnership between Berkeley Capital and Demelza has flourished since 2012 and connects the organisations through a range of activities. The money raised by Berkeley colleagues is unrestricted, so Demelza can use funds where they are most needed.
In the past 18 months, Berkeley Capital has raised £157,000 for Demelza and contributed 135 volunteering hours.
Berkeley Capital and St Giles: Partnership with a local charity
Berkeley Capital and St Giles have worked together since 2022. Apart from fundraising, Berkeley colleagues have supported St Giles with several mentoring programmes, supporting young people to write CVs and practise interview techniques.
In the past 18 months, Berkeley Capital has raised £169,000 for St Giles and contributed 75 volunteering hours.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributes to the Foundation’s success – from our dedicated team and Board of Trustees to our exceptional charity partners, and to all the Berkeley Group colleagues who fundraise, donate, volunteer their time and share their skills and expertise with our charity partners. Our close relationship with the Berkeley Group helps us to create lasting impact.
The Better Society Awards shine a light on companies who are helping to create a better, more equal and sustainable world. We’re delighted that our exceptional partnerships have been externally recognised and we look forward to continuing our work with Berkeley Group and our charity partners to deepen impact in our communities.
