The annual Berkeley Group Grads and Apprentices Sports Day took place at Battersea Park, bringing together the latest cohort of Graduates and Apprentices that joined Berkeley in January 2024.
A key highlight of the day was the involvement of Berkeley Foundation’s Strategic Partner, Lord’s Taverners, known for their incredible work in delivering cricket programs designed to empower young people with disabilities. Their involvement provided an opportunity for participants to engage with their state-of-the-art visual aids, offering an experience of what it’s like to play sports with a visual impairment.
Two graduates from the Foundation’s Street Elite programme were also at the event. Street Elite is delivered by The Change Foundation, and helps young people back into education or employment. The Street Elite graduates took on the important role of umpiring the day's matches.
Tim Smith, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager, from Lord’s Taverners comments:
"Thank you to the team at Berkeley for organising such a great day out for their new staff and graduates. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and hope we gave everyone in attendance a good demonstration of the work that we do for young people with disabilities across the UK. We look forward to seeing many of the same Berkeley staff volunteering at our programmes in the future!"
Georgia Flood, Commercial Graduate, from Berkeley Capital adds:
“Attending the Graduates Sports Day was a great opportunity to connect with fellow grads, both in my year and the cohort above, from all across the business. It was also just great fun getting involved in the different sport events and seeing the competitive spirit foster amongst everyone. However, a highlight of the day was definitely participating in blind cricket.”
