Across Berkeley Group, every division partners with local charities - not just to donate funds but to create a real, lasting impact. And this month, the spotlight shines on Berkeley St Edward.
Their partnerships include The Grange, a disability centre in Surrey, and YourStory, a mentoring charity supporting young people in Lambeth. They’ve also recently wrapped up a remarkable 13-year collaboration with ellenor hospice in Kent - a partnership that raised an incredible £485,000 to support families and patients.
But their efforts go far beyond financial contributions. At The Grange, the team refurbished key spaces and planted over 300 trees. Meanwhile, at ellenor, they tackled tasks like garden clean-ups, and brought smiles to faces by dressing up as elves to spread holiday cheer.
For fundraising, the annual Black Tie Boxing event has raised over half a million pounds in the last decade. More than 50 staff give up their evenings to host tables, collect raffle money, and even auction themselves off! One year, Managing Director Tom Pocock shaved his head for a prize, raising an additional £28,000.
Whether it’s cycling 400km from Vienna to Prague, conquering the London-to-Brighton hills, or running marathons (sometimes dressed as a chicken!), their creativity and commitment to fundraising are unmatched.
Berkeley St Edward also brought their charity work to Oval Village, celebrating the Berkeley Foundation’s £750,000 donation to the Lord’s Taverners Super 1s programme. They hosted an extraordinary cricket match inside the Grade II listed gas holder, offering participants a once in a lifetime experience.
Charity work runs through every aspect of their business, with employment, skills, and community teams actively collaborating with Foundation charity partners, including Groundwork London and CARAS. From volunteering with Westminster Wheels to donating furniture and running career workshops for refugee communities, their impact is widespread.
Reflecting on the partnership with ellenor, Jemma Kemp, Corporate Partnerships Manager, shared: “Berkeley has become part of the ellenor family. Their passion and commitment have improved so many lives.”
As they gear up to find an additional charity partner near their upcoming site on Syon Lane, the team is buzzing with fresh ideas for the year ahead. One standout plan? A glamorous, movie-themed ball that promises lights, cameras and action!
