The Lord's Taverners Disability Cricket Championships (LTDCC) finals took place on Tuesday 18th October and over 80 children from across London battled it out inside the historic Lord's Cricket Ground.
The event forms part of the year-round LTDCC programme aimed at ensuring disabled young people aged between 14-25 are able engage in sports.
There were eight teams involved in the finals representing Hackney, Kingston, Bexley, Richmond, Westminster, Newham, Harrow and Wandsworth. The teams played on two indoor pitches in the tournament and Kingston were crowned this year's champions!
aims to enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with disabilities to enjoy sport. The Berkeley Foundation has had the privilege of being a long-term supporter of the charity and has helped the LTDCC to expand in 5 new boroughs in 2016 alone. By then end of 2018, the programme will have expanded to reach all London boroughs.
"It is amazing to have a programme like this where you fan see the young people improve not only in their cricket skills but their all-round development and social interaction."
