At the Berkeley Foundation I was an apprentice for the last 14 months, until I received the news that I had passed my Level 3 Business Administration exam in August.
During this time, I have been on a great journey. In addition to getting to know our excellent charity partners, I also have the opportunity to participate in interesting discussions, explore our visual identity and social media, volunteer for our partners, collaborate with my team, and discover more.
When I first joined the team in 2022, I had little knowledge of the voluntary sector or administrative roles. While working at Berkeley Foundation, I completed a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, which helped me expand my knowledge in many different directions and build new skills to become the person I am today. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with other departments in the Berkeley Group to familiarise myself with areas I was interested in.
The apprenticeship included three themes: Core Business and Administration, Supporting Business Performance and Project Management. My End Point Assessment required me to develop a project that would benefit my department team and present it to the examiners.
When I was a new employee, I was nervous and unsure about what my project might be or how I would perform my assignments. I felt more confident as time progressed, thanks to the Foundation team's support and the knowledge I gained, and decided to provide training to my team on how to use Canva design in connection with our visual identity to achieve our goals. My Foundation colleagues had shared their knowledge with me, and I wanted to return the favour, so I chose to share my Canva design knowledge with the team so they could all benefit.
Being part of an organisation that offers opportunities and encourages me to continue my ongoing development is a blessing. My hope is that as the year progresses, I will be able to build more networks, gain greater insight into partnership management, and become more involved in our communication and events.
Megan was also featured in Berkeley Group's Shape the future brochure:
“My role is varied as I support the Berkeley Foundation charity with different projects. The apprenticeship has been really beneficial and has allowed me to experience new practical aspects alongside the teaching theory.”
