Mission EmployAble is a small local charity based in Chorleywood, on the Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. It runs a not-for-profit community café, which serves as a training facility for young adults aged 18-25 with a learning disability. The charity’s supported internship programme, delivered in partnership with the Buckinghamshire College Group, trains these young people to become employable, equipping them with the skills and confidence to find permanent paid work on completion of the programme.
We will fund a new Follow-on Job Coach, who will maintain contact with graduates, parents and employers for up to five years post-programme. The aim of the role is to support all stakeholders with long-term guidance, training and social activities so that each young person is able to sustain long-term employment. The role will also build up the charity’s evidence base, and learning gathered from this enhanced support will help shape the future of the programme.
